Significance

I chose to read this book because my friend Olivia read it and she loved it. She told me I should read it so I did. I also read this book because I love to read realistic fiction.

Perspective and  Connection

The author, Denise Vega, also had humiliations during 7th grade, and still wears her chuck taylors like she's been doing for four years.

Evidence

A fact is a true statement like,"The world is round" An opinion is what someone thinks about something, but is not true. Example,"Palm trees are pretty"

Supposition

If Mark and Rosie hadn't been there helping Erin through the "hard times" I think 7th grade would have been a lot harder for her.

Ida B. By Katherine Hannigan

Significance

I chose to read this book because it looked good and I love to readrealistic fiction. This book realates to other people because many daughters have mothers who get cancer.

Perspective

Catherine Hannigan Doesn't seem like she is against or for anything in this book. The problem is that Ida B. feels very worried for her mother and decides not to like or be nice to anyone.

Evidence

A fact is a true statement, like,"My name is Lizzie." An opinion is someone's view of something and is NOT true. Example,"I like to play in the ocean."

Connection

I know of a woman who had cancer that was so bad she was in the hospital for three years. The cancer got so bad, she couldn't keep living. In the story, Ida B.'s mother gets the same type o cancer, but she is able to get chemotherapy and overcome her sickness.

Supposition

If Ida B.'s mother had never gotten cancer, the whole story would have been different and unless something else terrible happened, there wouldn't be a point to the story.

Shadows on the Sea By: Joan Hiatt Harlow

Significance and Perspective

I chose to read this book because it looked interesting and I love to read historical fiction. This book relates to people who were living during the 1940's. in the northern east coast because many ships were either bombed or torpedoed and many lives were taken.

Evidence

A fact is a statement that is true, and an opinion is your view of things or what you think about something.
Fact:There ate 50 stars on the American Flag.
Opinion:Spinich is gross.

Connection

Knowing that just this little piece of time that "happened" in history, it gives me the feel of how scared people were in the war and how people felt.

Supposition

If the author had made the Caribou -the ship that Jill's mother was on- had gotten torpedoed, it would have made the book a lot sadder and some of the events that happened probably would not have happened.

Each Little Bird that Sings-By Deborah Wiles

Significance
I chose to read this book because it is written by deborah wiles and is kind of a sequal my last book: Love, Ruby Lavender. I think a person would chose to read this book because it has a lot of meaning and someone could relate it to their lives and learn how to word with their feelings.

Perspective
I think this book was written in the mid 18-1900's, because there isn't really any technology involved in this book and the setting is in a small town in the country. In the book, the main character, Comfort, has to put up with her annoying cousin Peach. he does things that i definately would not be able to tolerate, but Comfort should have been more understanding.

Evidence
You can know a fact is a fact because you can prove that there is reasoning behind it. An opinion is where you say something like "Your shoes are so cute!" A fact is like saying "Trees have roots." If I were to describe something I saw, I wouldn't say that the palm tree has green branches and blows in the wind, I would glide into it like I was describing the most beautiful thing I ever saw. I would support what I would say by giving a detailed description of what I saw.
Connection
I dont think that this work can apply to my life because i've never been to a funeral. I've only had one person die that was in my family, but My family and i didn't see him much.
I can not donnect this book to other's lives because i dont know anyone who has been to a funeral either. This book would inspire me to read more fantasy and realistic fiction books in the future.

Love, Ruby Lavender - Deborah Wiles

significance

I chose this book because when i read the description, i thought about how this book relates to the real world and how real the story is. after the first chapter of the book, I knew that it would become one of my favorites. I can take situations from this book use them in the real world, and it also taught me what to do and what not to do in a situation like the characters were in. I think that a person would read this book because it is a very adventurous book with laughter and some sadness too.

Perspective

I think this book was written in the mid 18-1900's, because there isn't really any technology involved in this book and the setting is in a small town in the country. In the book, the main character, Ruby Lavender, gets in a fight with a girl named Melba Jane. I think that I would have to take sides with Ruby because she respected people more than Melba, and ruby didn't lie to people about what she did or didn't do. In one part of the book, Ruby did something that she definitely shouldn't have done, but by then, she was very mad at Melba Jane.

Connection

I can apply this book to my own life because in it, two characters get into a huge fight and learn to deal with whats going on. i fight a lot with my sister, so now i can apply that to my life. i also think that if others read this book, they could do the same. I don't think this would do anything to affect what i like to read because it was already in my genre.
